Thumbelina and Teddy’s Story

Thumbelina and Teddy
We recently took in a 3-legged polydactyl Russian Blue girl. She was living in a horrid place in downtown Las Vegas and basically under a dumpster. A caring kitty trapper begged us to take her. She's so sweet and petite. She's been with a new foster Jodie and family getting tons of love for about 3 weeks.
Just after saving her we found out she had a sister (so we were told) and ear tipped. Hearing that she was sweet, too, and living under that dumpster with ferals , we said ok, get her. Well, we intercepted her, but she is actually a HE and might be her big brother!!! This kid is cross-eyed and sooo cute, but was scared and confused. We've saved several cross-eyed kitties from outside over the last 8 years. They take a little longer to understand that we're saving them.
Knowing that this kitty was already fixed and most likely related to Thumbelina, we took him to her in her amazing foster home. This new kid had the exact same color of fur, but was a lot bigger than her. He didn't want to come out of the carrier on his own so I picked Thumbelina up and put her near the open carrier so she could see him, and we couldn't believe our eyes! She slowly crawled into the carrier and curled up under him!! They are ABSOLUTELY related!! In 8 years and over 1,100 kitties saved, I've seen it all but never this until last night. Even though she's been the purrfect kitty and likes other kitties in the foster home, this was magical!
It was BEYOND precious! Look how cute this cross-eyed kid is! This is why I do the hardest job…rescue. We don't know how long these two were outside suffering in freezing temperatures. Trapper Adrienne said she's been pulling mats off of the sibling for weeks. She would feed them in the middle of the night and could only see them with her headlights pointed at the dumpster. Thank goodness for her and all of our caring feeders of ferals. So many are suffering outside. But here are two less. Stay tuned for more Happy updates. Of course we're full, but how can you say no to these sweet souls. Clearly they were dumped.
How cute is cross-eyed Teddy?! You know he was named Teddy because he looks exactly like a little cuddly black bear. He was saved in December with his tripod polydactyl Russian Blue sister Thumbelina.
They can be adopted together or separately. Both are approximately 15 months old per the vet. They are both fully vetted, healthy and microchipped.
Sister Thumbelina couldn't be sweeter. She has no issues with her missing limb. Teddy is on the shy side but their totally PAWSOME foster family is working with him daily to assure him that he is safe and won't be dumped outside again. They were saved from under a dumpster near downtown Las Vegas just after Thanksgiving with zero sign of ownership. They were most likely dumped. They were not born outside.
*How cute is the cross-eyed catnip mouse that was in Thumbelina's foster room, too! Very fitting.
